So, I was looking around for some names of the elemental creatures we were talking about. It's hard, because the classical mytholgies don't usually give names to them. Oh, I also read that dryads are an air creature. Erm? I dunno, I only saw that once. But I did find names of some dryads and hamadryads, and some nereids (water nymphs) and oceanids (ocean nymphs).

- Daphne, the most famous.
- Eurydice

I couldn't find any name or translation for "phoenix", and "salamander" is kind of lame... and then I got lazy and stopped looking for fire spirits.

I found a Fairy Name Generator, which isn't classic, but it's cute. Then I found this site,, which has more names.

the generator is cute. :-) I guess I have a lot of things to pick from... hmmm. Have to think about that. I wonder if the salamander in Rose Daughter has a name. I'll check before I return it to the library (haven't reread it yet). And of course, Heidi could always be Fawkes. <3

that could work. mixing worlds is cool. And there are sort of elementals in Sabriel. the river, which is sometimes Death and sometimes protection, Charter Magic, Free Magic... Also, the different beings after whom the bells are named are sort of elementals (like, the Dog. LOL)
